Kentucky State University (KSU) is pleased to provide an update regarding our progress in addressing the standards listed in the December 2023 letter from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). Over the past year, KSU has worked diligently to meet the requirements set forth by SACSCOC, reducing the initial 16 standards of potential non-compliance to only five remaining standards; this achievement is a testament to our unwavering commitment to institutional excellence and accountability.
The remaining five standards are interconnected to each other and are contingent upon the submission of KSU’s audited financial statements for Fiscal Years 2023 and 2024. These audits are in progress, and we fully anticipate that their completion and submission will lead to the removal of the "warning" status at the next SACSCOC Annual Meeting in December 2025.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the SACSCOC team for their guidance and support throughout this process, as well as to the members of the Special Committee who visited our campus in October. Their thorough review and constructive feedback have been instrumental in our progress.
We also wish to recognize the tireless efforts of KSU’s faculty and staff, who have worked diligently to address the identified issues and implement the necessary improvements. Their dedication to our mission has been inspiring and integral to the continued success of our students.
Special recognition to our dual credit associates and our partners at Frankfort Independent Schools, Carter G. Woodson Academy, and Owen County Schools. Innovative new programs have received full approval by our accrediting and oversight bodies – 3 new and one revised.

Kentucky State University remains resolutely focused on serving our students and community while adhering to the highest standards of academic and operational integrity. As we look ahead, we are extremely confident in our path forward and we are especially grateful for the collective efforts that have brought us to this pivotal moment.
