Academic advising at Kentucky State University is here to help you succeed. Our advisors guide you every step of the way—making sure you stay on track, make informed choices, and reach your goals.

Professional Advisors

Professional advisors are the primary advisors for first- and second-year students, helping you explore majors, plan your courses, and stay on track. Your professional advisor can help you:

  • Explore and choose a major.

  • Understand your guided pathway and plan your courses.

  • Register for classes each semester.

  • Track your academic progress.

  • Get support if you’re struggling in a class.

  • Connect with campus resources and navigate transition.

Faculty Advisors

Faculty advisors are available to connect with students from day one, helping you build relationships and plan your academic path. While the Student Success Advising team primarily supports first- and second-year students, faculty advisors guide you throughout your major. After you complete 60 credit hours, your faculty advisor becomes your primary advisor, helping you:

  • Understand program and degree requirements

  • Connect your courses to career and personal goals

  • Plan for long-term success and graduation
